Dr Subramanian Ponniah has done his MBBS and MD (General Medicine) from Govt. Thanjavur Medical College, Thanjavur, India and DM (Medical Gastroenterology) from Govt Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai, India. He has worked as Consultant in Gastroenterology at Ottapalam, Kerala, at Siliguri, West Bengal and at Guwahati, Assam, India.
He has very good experience in all therapeutic endoscopic procedures including Banding of esophageal varices, Glue injection therapy for fundic varix, Polypectomy, Capsule endoscopy, Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube placement, Foreign body removal and ERCP. He has vast experience in the intensive care management of various complicated gastrointestinal diseases, GI bleeding, Decompensated cirrhosis liver disease and Severe acute pancreatitis.
He has presented research paper in Indian Society of Gastroenterology National level Annual conference in 2011 about Post Gastrojejunostomy patients. He has done his dissertation work on Drug induced GI bleeding in his MD and on comparison of Serum Homocysteine level as a prognostic marker in chronic liver diseases of viral and alcoholic etiology in his DM.
